Our student data commitments
Plain-language promises about how Syllaboss treats kids' information. Questions or deletion requests: use the Account page while signed in, or ask us through your school.
We collect as little as possible
For a child we store a first name, last initial, grade, optional school, a player PIN (hashed), game progress, and — only if a parent adds it — a school Google address for future sign-in. No birthdays, no photos of kids, no location, no contacts.
Parents are in charge
Children cannot create accounts. A parent creates the household, adds each child, and can view, change, export or delete their child’s data at any time.
No ads. No selling. No profiling for marketing.
We never show ads, never sell or rent student data, and never use it to build advertising profiles. Student data is used only to run the learning experience.
Leaderboards show handles only
Other kids see a first name and last initial — never a full name — and parents can switch leaderboards off.
Class materials stay class materials
Syllabi, agendas and handouts you upload are used to build that class’s practice. Shared classes share the course structure, never another family’s child data.
AI with guardrails
Our curriculum builder uses Anthropic’s Claude to read class materials. Math answers are computed by our own code, not by AI. AI-written questions are independently checked before any child sees them; disputed ones are held back.
Security
Encrypted in transit (HTTPS), hashed credentials, rate-limited sign-ins, least-privilege access, and an audit log of sensitive actions.
Built for schools
Our tenancy model mirrors district → school → class. We sign data privacy agreements with districts and design to meet COPPA, FERPA and state student-privacy laws such as Illinois SOPPA.
